I have had to go to docs today. Have throat/ear/sinus infection and been given antibiotics. He said not to take methotrexate this week but does anyone know if I should stop the hydroxy as well (as it's a DMARD). I forgot to ask.

Hi Julie, Don't know personally, but give your pharmacy a ring,

Hi Julie,
I am on Hydroxychloriquine and I check at the Chemists that
whatever Antibiotic is prescribed is compatable with it.
It just gives me peace of mind.
Kind regards,
FionaSmile

hi Julie,
Sorry to hear you are feeling so poorly.
I think it's ok to take the hydroxy , they don't affect the immune system but it's best to check first just to be safe.
Hope you feel better soon.

Love, Doreen xx

Hi Julie

I have been on HCQ for 2.5 years I have never been told to stop it when I have needed an Antibiotic, but it is best to check. In fact the last time I did't stop anything. (maybe I should have)

Thanks for suggesting that I ring the pharmacy - I would have tried to call the GP and that is always a nightmare to get to speak to someone. Got through to pharmacist straight away and he confirmed it is ok to take hydroxy with amoxycillin - just skip the metho for a week as I was due to take it today.

I'm a bit better thanks Doreen. I am worrying most about the pain in my jaw - am praying it's the infection from my ears/throat that's causing it and not the dreaded RA creeping in there as well. Should feel better tomorrow when the antibiotics kick in. Jimmy has got his little friend round playing with him today so that takes the pressure off me. They are so funny at 8 yrs old - like 2 little old men chattering away.
